We are delighted to have hosted two 9th-grade classes from Galilée Middle School in La Salvetat Saint Gilles, at our Infinity Laboratory – Toulouse Institute for Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases, for a unique experience!
On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, two groups of middle school students had the opportunity to discover the behind-the-scenes of scientific research in our institute, from basic biology to cancer research.
🔹 The visit to the INFINITY laboratory: A fascinating dive into our state-of-the-art facilities, with hands-on workshops led by our researchers.
🔹 The themes of the day: “Cancer and the immune system: a game of hide and seek” & “Sex differences in immune response”
The students had the chance to engage in a roundtable discussion with members of our team (researchers, engineers, zootechnician, associate professors, and support staff), to learn about different careers in research and the diversity of career paths.
🔬 The practical workshops:
1️⃣ Workshop 1: Discovering a laboratory and microscopic observation
2️⃣ Workshop 2: Volumes and streaking – Handling and experimentation in the field
3️⃣ Workshop 3: Interactive quiz on the role of women in research – A crucial moment to raise awareness among young people about diversity in science.
We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to share such an inspiring and enriching day with these promising young talents. 🌱
